The new Sony HDR-MV1 Music video recorder is a full HD, 1080p video recorder with the standard Zeiss lens, synonymous with Sony. That lens has a 120 degree field of view, and an LCD screen so you can see what you’re capturing. The sensor is backlit to ensure that if you’re in a dark area, the video isn’t quite as grainy as you may have come to expect. There’s also a lip sync feature to tie together audio and video.
The adjustable X/Y mic, also with 120 degrees of spread, captures everything. You can tweak the levels with digital controls, and the camera is designed from the ground up to capture live performances simply and effectively. The Sony HDR-MV1 retails for around $300.
